Purpose
Faith Community Free Health Clinic provides a holistic approach toward meeting the primary health care needs of economically disadvantaged seniors of Barry County. We serve those who fall through the medical and social safety net and help them connect with basic resources. We offer education, prevention and treatment without charge, but with deep compassion and respect for the people whose needs we serve.
Mission
To promote health and healing as lived out through our convictions of a life centered in Jesus Christ.
"Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you did it to me."
Matthew 25:40
Background
In Barry County, as in most counties in Michigan, there are a large number of uninsured or underinsured people. The Barry-Eaton Health Department is addressing the general population of these people between 19 and 64 years of age with a low cost clinic but many still can't afford their medicines or office calls.
1. On Social Security Disability with Medicare and possibly a Medicaid spend-down.
2. 20 to 64 years old with no insurance coverage.
3. 20 and older with Medicare and possibly a Medicaid spend-down.
We will see patients for urgent care and we will furnish referrals to various resources so care can continue when at all possible. This includes finding a primary care physician, needed tests, specialists and referrals to the Barry-Eaton Health Clinic or the VA. We will provide free medications with prescriptions from their primary doctors and through the cooperation of the various drug companies when it is available to us.
Everyone must meet our income and asset standards.
Volunteers from all over the area have come together to help create this clinic. Volunteer health professionals are needed to donate four hours once each month. Donations of money and medical supplies are greatly appreciated. All donations are tax deductible. Faith Community Free Health Clinic does not charge for services. Donations are gratefully received from churches, service organizations and individuals. Grants have been applied for from various foundations. FCFHC is organized under Freely Given Inc., a 501(c)(3) corporation.
